Surface: A New Way To Live In The Digital World

SURFACE: A NEW WAY TO LIVE IN THE DIGITAL WORLD

"From digital finger painting to a virtual concierge, Surface brings natural interaction to the digital world in a new and exciting way."

As a laptoprocker you've probably heard of the "Tabletop". Microsoft's forthcoming Multi-touch product called 'Microsoft Surface' turns the ordinary tabletop into a vibrant, interactive surface. The possibilities are just endless with it. How cool would it be to make music without having to use a mouse or keyboard!

Surface provides effortless interaction with digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects. It's a 30-inch display in a table-like form factor that’s easy for individuals or small groups to interact with in a way that feels familiar, just like in the real world. In essence, it’s a surface that comes to life for exploring, learning, sharing, creating, buying and much more.

At a high level, Surface uses cameras to sense objects, hand gestures and touch. This user input is then processed and the result is displayed on the surface using rear projection. The device also enables drag and drop digital media when wi-fi enabled devices are placed on its surface such as a Microsoft Zune, cellular phones, or digital cameras.

Microsoft announced earlier that their first Surface computer will soon be available in restaurants, hotels, retail establishments and of course.... public entertainment venues!

Watch the videos on the Surface website and be amazed!

Seeing is believing.
