The Digital Musician Recorder (DM-Recorder) software is a multitrack recorder for working online and offline with a partner via the Internet. The program allows you to record projects with other musicians online and offline using a basic Internet connection. Just think of the DM-Recorder as a multitrack machine that other users can connect to via an Internet broadband connection.
All logged-in users can communicate with each other using the integrated chat function and, for example, make dates for joint sessions. There is a button called “User Profile” in the plug-in window. During a session, it can link directly to the “Artists & Studios” homepage of the session partner making it possible to get information about them and chat. Cubase and Nuendo users have the possibility to make use of the “Live-Input” function, which compensates the input latency of live instruments so that everything is heard in the right position during recording. Takes can be recorded in real-time with two instances of the DM-Recorder using DM-Link technology. Projects are saved on a server so project participants can not just work together live but also time delayed. Swapping the project’s audio files between the server and a local system allow all involved to work with their own files independently.
Currently DM-Recorder and the integrated website elements are in a public beta phase. The final release is expected in a few weeks time with a Studio Job feature making it possible to handle transactions via the website including contractual issues and payments.
