SHENZHEN P88 TABLET

Shenzhen Great Loong Brother Industrial Co., Ltd. cloned the iPad several months before before Apple released its own.

Shenzhen Great Loong Brother Industrial Co., Ltd. is a Chinese manufacturer of portable car GPS Navigation systems and 10.2 inch laptops.

Their most interesting product, the P88 looks like a perfect Apple iPad clone. It is built around an Intel Atom CPU, runs Windows XP and comes with USB ports - something which the "real iPad" lacks. Significant detail is that the P88 was out three months before Apple released its own iPad!

Wu Xiaolong, the president of Shenzhen now claims that Apple has copied the design of its multi-touch tablet because they first presented the P88 six months ago at the International Electronics Fair in Berlin.

Another company making claims regading the iPad is Japan's Fujitsu. They've said its US subsidiary first launched a sleek handheld multimedia device with a 3.5-inch screen, dubbed "iPad" way back in 2002.

Both companies said they've filed for patent at the time, which applications currently still are in progress.

Did Apple really clone the P88?

Given the fact the P88 looks like a giant iPhone, such a claim probably won't stand a chance in a US court room.
