Q2 DUAL DJ - "DJ DUOS REVOLUTIONIZED"

channels that are selected on the mixer.

"It becomes very complicated and hard to cue your own stuff. Using 2 mixers is an absolute nightmare, for anyone who has attempted this they will know. There is no way of linking every channel from each deck to each mixer and then routing to one master allowing each DJ to cue independently. You need outputs for every channel on one of the mixers for it to work properly. Forget that, just use a Q2 Dual DJ, it makes life hell of a lot easier."

How does it stand out compared to something like Behringers RX1602?

"All the current units available on the market right now are "end systems" meaning that once you've connected the inputs to them, there is no way of getting each channel back to the club mixer separately."

After talking with some brand name manufacturers to co-develop your idea with, you decided to go your own way. You designed two versions and found a manufacturer to make you the first 400 pieces. Can you give us some more background info here?

"Basically, I setup a House night outside of Manchester, UK alongside my Q2 Dual DJ tour resident James Boov. We were bored standing around waiting for each other to mix and then pass the headphones. I bought an Allen & Heath Xone 92. That has 2 headphone sockets, but again you have the same problem as using a headphone splitter. I contacted Allen & Heath to see if they would custom build me a mixer with 2 Cue features. They said it's not possible in that mixer and for me to use the Aux Sends for the second pair of headphones. That sort of worked until we started guest DJ'in at other venues with different mixers and then we were back to just passing headphones… Boring… So I approached a UK manufacturer, a world leader in DJ mixers and asked them to help develop my new idea. I had the original prototype built then myself and James tested it over the next 12 months. The company who had built the prototype then told me that I had to wait months for them to schedule a production run and also the costs of the units would have been about double what I'm selling them for now so I found a new factory that to manufacture the Q2 Dual DJs on a larger scale. They first developed the Q2 DJ-8 from the original 4 Channel model and then I had 20 of each unit made at the start of this year to test how big the market for the product is. I've now sold most of these without even advertising yet and will have a new batch arriving at the end of April/Early May. I expect every major Bar/Club worldwide to have a Q2 Dual DJ-8 installed within the next 2 years."
