ago and started releasing, it would have had the same reception from artists, the industry, media and consumers."
Don't you think the physical restriction of what was originally an LP (vinyl - two sides each 20 minutes) added a lot to the strenght of the album format? DDA doesn't seem to have such restrictions, it can contain hundreds of tracks. Don't you think the lack of a clearly defined format is a weak point?
"No, we think it’s a strong point. We’re not saying a DDA is a replacement for the CD or vinyl – I’m a huge fan of both – if they are the formats that suit certain buyers then fantastic. Nor is it to replace file sharing. It’s a new, valid option for the consumption of music and related digital content from artists people appreciate which will suit many people."
Both consumers and the music industry seem to have finally come to terms with MP3 files being something you can own and get paid for. With newer concepts like DDA even being more virtual in terms of what you own, it might be one step too far - especially for major labels. Why do you think DDA can make it now compared to eight years back?
"Because the need for more options is more relevant. 8 years back major record companies were not thinking they needed options - they were still in the mind set that they’ll hold on to their current business models forever…. Now, they are very much in need and hungry for options."
Do you think people will eventually value "virtual ownership" in the same manner as "physical ownership"? Having a ride with your neighbour in that sexy cherry red Porsche in a virtual world would be great for the environment too! Is this science fiction or a reality just one generation ahead of us?
"A DDA and its content isn’t just virtual. All content acquired by an Activated User is downloaded to their PC/MAC from which the system enables CD burning and transfers to their iPod. On top of that, we keep a virtual back up for you - this enables even more flexible usage of the content each user has paid for."

Groundbreaking? Maybe not, but practical ideas like these might just work perfectly. After all MP3s are just MP3s and with DDA they come with a lot of extra candy. Decide for yourself and check out more at the link below.
